While most of its internal settings for the CT80 can be left alone on your Vera Dashboard, you can make adjustments and set notifications.
Let's begin with a simple one that might be useful in a home with more than one thermostat -- let's name the thermostat.
Hover your mouse over the top blue bar of the CT80 Device in your Dashboard, so that the wrench icon appears, as shown. Click on the wrench icon.
You'll first be taken to the "Control" tab, which shows you a button-based interface for the thermostats core functions. You can select these functions in this screen or in the previous screen.
As mentioned most of the settings of the CT80 can be left alone, as they were set at the factory. But let's now click on the "Advanced" menu and in the field provided, enter a name for your thermostat, such as "Upstairs Thermostat" or "Den Thermostat," etc. in the field shown:
In this same "Advanced" menu, you can decide which, if any other smart devices in your home will send control signals to the CT80 thermostat. As examples, you can have a SmartSwitch energy monitor tell the thermostat to turn itself down (or up) depending on how much energy is being consumed by the SmartSwitch. Or you can have a smart light in the house tell the CT80 thermostat to lower (or raise) itself when that light is turned off.
In this "Advanced" screen, you'll see a drop-down menu at the top labeled "Controlled via". It is set to default to "Z-Wave' control, and if you like, you can simply leave this setting alone. But if you click and hold the menu, you'll see a list of all the devices that can interact with your thermostat, as shown:
Any other smart devices in your system can also send messages and action commands to your CT80 thermostat in a Scene. For more information on how to create scenes, click here.
You can also have your CT80 smart thermostat send you notifications via email or text when you're away. In this way, you can see if the temperature has hit a point that you'd like to change. As an example, perhaps you'd like to turn the air conditioning down because it suddenly turned cloudy and cool when you were away at work.
To make the CT80 thermostat send you notifications, you must first have set up your Notifications preferences. If you haven't already set up these preferences, please do so now.

Click and hold the drop-down menu, and you'll see a list of events that will make your CT80 thermostat send you an email or text notification. When you receive the notification, you can act on it if you like and control your thermostat remotely to your preference.
